This speculative Virgin Atlantic brief asked for help in branding their new ‘Flight + Hotel’ proposition which was about being able to confidently book an entire trip at the touch of a button. We needed to encourage people to be more spontaneous and give it a try.We branded this new sub brand as Virgin Departure. A vibrant design system with an inspiring voice. The name Departure comes from the story of the flyers. Their travel journey starts with spontaneity and ends with a reconnection with life. We explored this story by highlighting “re” at the end of Departure. This allows us to use the prefix "Re" and connect Virgin Departure to language that speaks to the inspiration one finds when travelling.
We explored the idea of instant travel by deconstructing the flags of the destinations Virgin Departure travels to. We reconstructed these basic shapes into new visual assets and used them as a lense for our social media posts. This visualization of flags reinforces the idea that Virgin Departure can get you anywhere you can dream of instantly.
